Standout Kensington & Chelsea events in September

As the most celebrated cultural quarter in London, the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea plays host to a variety of fantastic events, museum exhibitions and festivals. While the summer is a great time to visit with your family and take in the sights, September brings plenty to enjoy too. And with many of the events being just minutes away from Little India, there’s every reason to stop and search ‘Indian restaurant near me’ when you’re ready to eat – and drop in for delicious authentic Indian cuisine.

Here are the standout Kensington & Chelsea events for September 2025.

The Proms

The Proms concerts run throughout the first half of September, with the famous Last Night of the Proms taking place in the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday 13 September. Don’t miss out on some of the fantastic classical music each night, from Shostakovitch’s Lady Macbeth and Brahms’ uplifting Second Symphony to classic thriller soundtracks from films such as Psycho and Taxi Driver

London Design Festival

From 13 – 21 September 2025, celebrate London’s position at the forefront of design. With the Victoria & Albert Museum as its central hub, the festival comprises over 400 events and exhibitions across the city, as well as talks, tours and workshops.  This year’s programme features topical talks on resource extraction, automation and more, as well as Goldsmiths’ Fair and a range of design installations.

Peter Doig: House of Music

Starting on 3 September is Peter Doig’s multisensory immersive exhibition, House of Music. Hosted at the Serpentine, it fuses art and music, combining Doig’s paintings with an installation of rare, restored analogue speakers through which will play a range of vinyl collections. The show promises to turn the gallery into a dynamic, high-fidelity listening space that influences how visitors experience Doig’s colourful, impasto works.

V&A: Marie Antoinette Style

Perhaps the most fashionable queen in history, Marie Antoinette was an icon whose style continues to influence design, film, fashion and art. This exhibition explores the ill-fated royal’s power to fascinate, displaying an array of her clothing and possessions such as her silk slippers, jewels from her private collection and her dinner service. Alongside these pieces will be decorative objects that her legacy inspired. The exhibition opens on 20 September 2025.

Chelsea History Festival

The Royal Hospital Chelsea brings military history to life through over 80 events that run between 24 and 28 September. Visitors can enjoy a concert in the Great Hall and Wren Chapel, learn about the unsung Chinese heroes of D-Day, and attend talks on codebreakers, espionage, punk history and architectural heritage.
